It just blows my mind that it's been almost a year since we last chatted about our good friend, singer/songwriter Gustavo Alberto. Now fitted with the last name, Galindo, Gustavo has the Latin music world abuzz. With a debut album coming out next Spring, this dynamic troubadour has a busy schedule ahead.
He just opened for Babasonicos and Zoe at Club Nokia. He's also doing showcases around Fashion Week, MTV Los Premios and possibly a return to SXSW 2010?
Oh, did I mention we are the only outlet, besides his myspace, that has a snippet of his new song?! "Here's a sneak peak at Amor De Alta Mar, one of the songs that's being considered for the first single"

Below is a great post we did last year on the boy, look out for him, we see big things for Galindo!

So I from time to time work for Indieoma.com, a site dedicated to independent artists and culture, and from time to time I get to meet unique artists such as Gustavo Alberto. Take note all you suits! Art often starts from the family. Gustsavo's familia in fact paid for his recording sessions, fueled his early work and keeps him connected to who he is. In this two part interview I did with him in Los Angeles we chatted about his career, family, SXSW, break-ups and the great Chicano film Blood In, Blood Out! Gustavo is currently working with some high profile producers, who have produced in the past Juanes(pre-tarzan photo!), Cafianes and Molotov. I can't wait to hear the final product. Having seen him earlier this year at SX and the METV studios, Gustavo is a true talent. Pure and honest with his words and passionate with his music play. So lets hope that with all the polish to come, can you say JuanesTwo?, Gustavo doesn't lose his identity or humble attitude. Why doubt him Paul? well, lets just say I know a nice, shy guy who gave me his first interview in '99 when no one knew who he was. This shy artist meet me at a small LA club for a stirring interview. He didn't know many people and felt out of place in Los Angeles. Like Gustavo, this humble guy talked about his family, music and relationships and was working on his solo album in LA. That solo album won the shy fellow three Latin Grammys for Best New Artist, Best Rock Solo Vocal Album, and Best Rock Song. Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez best known as Juanes, was that shy man, I've tried in the past years to get an interview with him, maybe he forgot who I was, maybe he forgot our conversations and the countless others who gave him his first break. Gustavo, fame happens, so remember your passion and your family. Suits?, stay away. Juanes? Fijate bien... Catch the exclusive two-part interview with Gustavo Alberto only at www.indieoma.com

John Legend Interview from SaucidoSlant on Vimeo.

So we got lucky, by chance meet up with a musical giant during this weekend in Austin. John legend, this generation's Stevie Wonder. Yes, it left me joyous and proud to be on this earth. So humble and real was john that I felt like I was talking to a friend. Legend is a friend and defender of true music. As you see from this two part interview we did backstage at ACL, ME Television is proud to bring you some awesome coverage during these past three days.

Look for more great interviews from Ghostland Observatory(handled with expertise by Kristen Palmer) to Federico Aubele, but for now love the Legend!'

ACL Day One Thoughts! From the Press Grounds

From the Press Tent! Lets do this!

As thunder and lightning turned into a fresh Austin day, we turned our attention to Zilker Park and the mammouth out door festival known as ACL. Today is the brightest I'll be, most rested and not yet jaded by long walks to and from the station to the concert grounds.
On tap fro interviews I have David Garza, Jonathan Tyler, John Legend and Thievery Corporation here at the ACL grounds and press area. Later tonight we are hitting the famed Zona Rosa, to get an interview with Los Amigos Invisibles and maybe Devocthka! In fact we just chatted with their label guys backstage and might get an interview!
I just interview the Sound and the Jury winners, The Bright Light Social Hour. Fun guys and a fun interview, like Joe chatting about his fear induced pee-ing spurts! Catch that interview at www.metelevision.com
I already meet some nice people, like Nadia Musallam of Blastro, who is lending me her MAC to write this! Thanks girl!
I wish more top Latino talent was here, Girl in a Coma anyone? But that's it as far as my complaining, I'm gonna enjoy this weekend and will get get interviews for METV! I'll write again in the morning to you all and load up some video I'm taking off the Flip Camera!

yay!
